Best Apps for Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers

"There's no such thing as perfect parents. So just be a real one"... Sue Atkins.

The reality is, the pandemic has caught us off guard. We may have had a thousand things planned but the situation at hand has made us revisit those. One of the things most of us are struggling with is screen time for toddlers. We may have vowed to limit screen time but let's face it, it's hard to keep these powerhouses of energy engaged for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We have come up with a list of some very entertaining learning apps for toddlers and preschoolers that might help you keep the little ones engaged while enjoying a few minutes (or hours) of peace.

1. Kutuki preschoolers learning app

What's great about this app is that the characters are Indian and very relatable. We enjoy Kutuki books, and this app is also a very good resource for kids' learning and engagement.

iOS users - https://apps.apple.com/in/app/kutuki-kids-learning-app/id1447090784

2. Vooks

This app gives access to 6 free books where stories are read in an animated way, teaching your child an important lesson in intonation and expression as the child enjoys their favorite books. This app can be upgraded to a subscription model if the child enjoys it.

iOS users - https://apps.apple.com/in/app/vooks/id1435813450

3. Monkey Preschool adventures: Sorting and Learning

This app has a colourful interface which helps children sort shapes, colours, and sizes. This also has fruits, vegetables, vehicles, sea creatures etc. Another app from the same developer is Monkey Preschool lunchbox. While this one is not a free app, children can help the monkey pack a healthy lunchbox which can be a lot of fun.

4. Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame

An app that has activities to help children learn problem-solving through challenges. The highlight of this app is the resource section for parents; to help them navigate through everyday issues with children.

5. Happy Mrs. Chicken

If your child is a Peppa Pig fan like mine, you may have already seen Peppa and George play this fun game with Happy Mrs. Chicken laying eggs and these eggs hatching into chickens. I have to admit it is fun, even for me.
